I took the photo below at Amelia Island in 2014. When doing the drawing for this painting, I kept the composition essentially the same, apart from removing the people. My primary focus was the spaceframe and lightweight construction of the "Birdcage" Maserati. Looking back, I think that I didn't quite capture the transition of shadows on the fenders. But I'm happy with the wire wheels and the spaceframe.
