This is one of my favourite paintings, a detail of a 1938 Jaguar SS100. The photo below on which the painting is based was taken by me at the 2014 Amelia Island Concours D'Elegance. This shows some of the process involved. I'll choose the composition based on the original photo, whether to paint the whole car or to choose a detail. The details appealed to me in this case - the wire mesh on the headlights, the reflections in the chrome, the leather hood straps and the spoked wheels. Of course, I removed the people and the plate on the front. I also decided to change the colour of the paint.
